Step 1 begins with a few basic products and some preparation by the patient. This program requires the knowledge and guidance of Dr. Zweig, who supervises the process with prescription and non-prescription products. These products are discussed in full under skincare program
Step 2 may includes a series of light chemical peels. Much more beneficial than micro dermabrasion, light peels refresh and even out the skin, reverse some sun damage, and are especially effective for hormone-caused discoloration.
Dr Zweig does the peels himself. He can successfully perform a more aggressive peel than a non-medical person. He uses a 70% glycolic acid (alpha-hydroxide) chemical, controlling the exposure and prep to achieve the desired amount of peel. Chemical peels are best done in a series of 4 to 6, with 2 to 3 weeks between each peel. The intensity increases in each succeeding peel.
Although there is usually mild inflammation and sometimes minor flaking after a light peel, make-up can usually be applied the next day. The light peel is effective for minimally problematic skin and acne. The results are smoother, younger, fresher-looking skin. The patient is able to maintain the effects with the skin products at home
For more freckling, persistent age spots and wrinkles there are medium peels, deep peels, and laser resurfacing.
