Benefits of Surgical Lip Enhancement: Lip Enlargement
Full lips are regarded as a sign of beauty and sensuality. Unfortunately, some patients are born with small lips. As we age we also suffer lip thinning, wrinkling, and loss of definition. This is due to reduction of muscle and support, as well as the loss of fat and natural collagen. Thinning aged lips also show increased vertical wrinkle lines along the vermillion border.

Dr. Zweig has a myriad of choices to offer a patient who wishes to rejuvenate or enhance their lips. There are surgical procedures to expose more lip by advancing the vermillion border and removing a strip of skin just above the border. The distance from the bottom of the nose to the red area, which often lengthens with age, can be shortened by surgery or camouflaged with a comination of techniques.

To produce or enhance the ridgeline on the upper lip, either an injectable filler or a permanent-type material such as Gore-Tex® is used. As only a local anesthetic is required when placing Gore-Tex® in the upper lip, this procedure is usually not performed in the operating room.
